Help! I stopped losing weight

Why do we stop losing weight and what to do?

A weight loss plateau is when your weight stops changing despite a consistent diet and exercise regimen that had previously helped you lose weight. This can be frustrating, but it is perfectly normal. In fact, most people who try to lose weight will experience a plateau at some point.

There are a few reasons why weight loss plateaus happen. One reason is that your body’s metabolism slows down as you lose weight. This is because muscle burns more calories than fat, and you lose some muscle along with fat as you lose weight. Another reason for weight loss plateaus is that people often start to eat more or exercise less as they lose weight. This is because they are less hungry and feel more energized.

There are a few things you can do to break a weight loss plateau:

  • Reassess your habits. Look back at your food and activity records to see if you are still on track. If you are eating more calories or exercising less than you were when you were losing weight, make some adjustments.
  • Cut more calories. You may need to reduce your calorie intake by 100-200 calories per day to start losing weight again.
  • Rev up your workout. Try adding more high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to your workouts. HIIT is a great way to burn calories and boost your metabolism.
  • Pack more activity into your day. Find ways to move more throughout the day, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or parking further away from your destination.

It is also important to be patient and persistent. Breaking a weight loss plateau takes time and effort. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t see results immediately. Just keep at it and you will eventually reach your goals.
